Head of Accounts

Job Summary
- The Head of Accounts will oversee all financial accounting operations of the real estate company, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, accurate financial reporting, and efficient cash flow management.
- The role involves strategic financial planning, budgeting, tax management, and supervision of the accounting team to support business growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and local tax laws.
- Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger management.
- Implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.2. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and provide variance analysis.
- Advise management on cost optimization and revenue enhancement strategies.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure timely filing of Company Income Tax (CIT), VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other statutory obligations.
- Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies (FIRS, LIRS, etc.).
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations affecting the real estate sector.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
- Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity for operations and projects.
- Oversee banking relationships, loan facilities, and investment activities.
- Monitor project financing and ensure proper allocation of funds.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement:
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team (accountants, bookkeepers, etc.).
- Automate and streamline accounting processes using ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
- Conduct periodic audits to ensure accuracy and fraud prevention.
Real Estate-Specific Duties:
- Track project-wise financial performance (costs, revenue, profitability).
- Manage escrow accounts, joint venture accounting, and stakeholder reporting.
- Review sales agreements, lease contracts, and revenue recognition policies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional Certification: ICAN, ACCA, or CPA (mandatory).
- Experience: Minimum 9–15 years in accounting, with 5+ years in real estate, construction, or property management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks, SAP, Excel (advanced), and Power BI.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of Nigerian tax laws, IFRS, and real estate financial dynamics.
- Candidates from Ibadan are more preferred

Salary
N400,000 – N500,000 per month.
